I'm starting a new build and I was looking into putting windows 8 on it because I just recently bought a laptop with windows 7 and now I can get an upgrade for windows 8 for $15 and I was wondering if I would be able to intall the copy of windows 8 on my new desktop while downloading it on my laptop. In the windows 8 upgrade assistant it says that after downloading bootable media such as a DVD or usb drive could be created so I was thinking that I might be able to just intall that copy of windows 8 on the new desktop. I was thinking maybe if that didnt work i could create a restore disk or whatever from my laptop with windows 7 and install that temporarily to install windows 8. I really don't feel like spending $100 for windows 7 I'd much rather spend $15 for windows 8 since i dont plan on doing any real gaming on it. I would very much appreciate any help with this.
- Flip your laptop over and copy down the key from the Windows 7 Sticker.
- Use this link: http://www.mydigitallife.info/windows-7-iso-x86-and-x64-official-direct-download-links-ultimate-professional-and-home-premium/ and find the same version of windows.
- Download the iso and use this http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool
- Select the iso in the software and select your usb device and wait.
- When you want to install windows 7 again, boot your desktop and keep pressing delete.
- In your bios change your boot order with the usb device first.
- And save and exit
- There you go...
It also doesn't matter if you choose x64(64bit) or x86(32bit) but I recommend you get x64(64bit)
Dude thank you so much you are amazing this just saved me so much
