Windows 8 lock screen is acting weird

When I lock my screen by pressing the Windows key and L, it never accepts my password, sometimes it will act if a key is being pressed repeatedly, sometimes when I press shift for a capital letter, it will fill in 5-6 characters, and I've had it go into what I guess is a blind/vision impaired mode where it reads off the options but wont accept my password.

Anyone have these issues or know of a fix? Any help is greatly appreciated, because what's the point of having a lockscreen if you're going to have to restart the PC anyways...

Is there any way to see if any of my keys are active when they aren't physically being pressed? It only does it on that screen, when I start up, I go back to virtually the same lock screen to get into my PC and it never messes up. Just when I try to lock my screen while the PC is already booted up.
