Windows 8 installing NVIDIA drivers automatically

Hello,

I have looked for solutions to this on other forums but nobody could really help so I thought this could be the right place and since I was watching the youtube channel for quite a long time I just registered.

The problem is that Windows 8 is installing NVIDIA drivers on my desktop PC although i have disabled the option for that. It also does not ask for it. All I see (after clean install) is that while doing a windows update the screen turns black and starts again with the right resolution. After I take a look in the control panel I see that it installed some old NVIDIA driver... including 3D Vision etc.

Am I deactivating it wrong? Or does this not include GPU drivers?

I deactivated it this was: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2500967

Thanks

If Windows is updating the drivers, your drivers are way out of date.  I suggest checking with your manufacture to get the latest driver.

No, that is not what I ment. Windows installes these drivers without any drivers being installed prior. It also installes old drivers. The thing I want is to stop Windows doing that.

Edit: Those drivers do not come from Windows Update btw.

Just tell me the model number and manufacture of your video card and I will give you the link to your latest driver.

Just to be sure do this:

1.  Go to control panel

2.  use small or large icons in upper right of window

3.  click windows update

4.  click change settings in left side

5.  select "check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them"

6. checkmark "give me recommended updates the same way I recieve important updates"

7.  at the bottom click "OK" or "save"

8.  go to Nvidia site and download the latest driver to your desktop

9.  make sure MSI afterburner and or evga precision is NOT running

10.  click the driver and install using a custom/advanced install

11.  checkmark only the driver, psysx, and audio only if you use HDMI

12.  make sure all other options are not checked.  i.e DO NOT use geforce experience

13.  check clean install

14.  install drivers

15.  reboot/restart PC

16.  you should be good to go

JefferyD90, you still not understand. I know the model of my GPU and I know where to get the driver.

andydviking, I already did that. As I said that driver does not come from windows update. I unchecked every hardware related driver from windows update. Windows 8 just installs a driver without my permission or my knowledge.

I'm sorry.  I think I now understand what you are trying to say.  **Can you please tell me what graphics card you have?  **can you please take a screen shot of your contol panel and post it back here?

I read the page you linked to.  I am understanding that you don't want any of the extra features that come with the Nvidia driver and it's installing these auto?  And it's reverting back to an old driver?
