I needed to reinstall windows. i have a new 2tb drive i wanted to use. i downloaded the windows iso to a flash drive and start to install but part way through it froze. i tried again, this time it froze in a different spot. so i tried going in for windows 11. it failed as well. the install always failed. it would either freeze or just reboot and then fail. i could not get a working copy of 22h2 installed or windows 11. i tried 2 different m.2 drive and neither would work. i have tried with both video cards the amd radeon on the mob and rtx 3060, i have tried with both. i have amd ryzen 7 5700g 32gigs of ram and asus tuf gaming b550 mob.
I was able to install version 1507 but once i tried to update to 22h2, it started crashing. I decided to do a reinstall as my pc was taking 20-30 minutes to reboot. i believed there was an issue with one of the updates and or one of the programs that i use.
Suggestions or where to go from here. have enable the tpm, secoure boot, done clear cmo, loaded defaults, and updated the bios.
Maybe there is an issue with the said flash drive?
You could use rufus to create a bootable usb drive.
Another thing you could try is downloading the newest iso from MS,
which is 25h2 at this point in time.
Unfortunately, that sounds like a hardware failure.
Try taking out one of the RAM sticks and check for the crash on install. If it still crashes, replace it and try with the other stick. You can also try to isolate the CPU’s memory controller channels by putting 1 stick in the motherboard’s channel A slot and if that crashes, try channel B.
If it’s not the RAM then it’s probably the CPU or the motherboard, and you’ll need to swap those out to try to narrow down the problem component…
I did try the ram swapping but only they the manual said to install. I did use a linux install and ran a test and had all the cpu cores at 100% for 30 mins with no crashing. i will try the channel swapping and see what happens. thank you for the suggestion.
