Winamp Legacy Question

So I used this app back in the day and not sure when I stopped using it, however it has one interesting feature, you could play an AUDIO CD in disk write mode.

So basically instead of ripping each track, you would play the entire AUDIO CD and it would write into a disk file, in .wav format.

However, trying to use it now on Windows 11 seems to crash the app.

It will play the audio fine just listening on Headphones or through a speaker system, just not writing to the disk.

Why does this matter ?

Well for me, it’s getting the entire audio cd output into a single, continuous file.

This is great for those AUDIO CD’s that transition from one track to another without any breaks.

I will try using LEGACY WINDOWS mode compatibility to see if this works, otherwise I may need to dig out an old Windows XP notebook to see if I can get it working this way.

Any tips on this as I could not find any other app that does this, at least not so far

Classic Winamp is long dead. Use the modern Winamp Community Update Project version.

Almost anything will rip to ‘bin+cue’ format, where the PCM CD Audio is in the .bin file and the timings are saved to the .cue file. Names of programs for your web searching: ExactAudioCopy (EAC) still exists. SoundKonverter is my preferred tool (cross-platform QT and KDE frameworks).

K3n.

Thanks for the feedback

GitHub - cyanreg/cyanrip: Bule-ish CD ripper is probably as simple as it gets and gapless playback has been around for two or so decades now.

Sorry about the necro.

https://aimp.ru/ Does share bones with Winamp. Not sure about that specific function
