Will the Crucial M500 M.2 SSD work with my Asus Maximus VII Ranger

Hey Guys,

I'm just about to upgrade my motherboard to a Asus Maximus VII Ranger and I noticed that it has a M.2 slot which I'd like to use!

I checked my local retailer and they are selling the Crucial M500 240GB M.2 SATA SSDs and they look really great for my needs. I've done some research and I'm a little worried though. The motherboard says PCIex 2 next to the M.2 rather than SATA.

Will it work? I've also read about interference with them.

Any one have any info or a recommendation on a better M.2 at around the same price point (£90) or maybe alternate Mobo?

Thanks in advance!

Zul

Upon further research it looks like it only supports the PCIe standard, not both! That's a shame. Anyone got another recommendation?

I did find this - Plextor M6e M.2 PCI-E 256GB but it is an extra £50!

The Crucial drive is a SATA drive, The Plextor drive should be faster, but I don't really think that any user would really need one. Also, I would go for a MX100 instead of M500, theyre newer, and a little bit cheaper. The Ranger isn't in the US market yet, but it looks sexy

damn extra 50 pounds is hefty, but you are going from 6gb/s to a 10gb/s connection
