I was thinking about contemporary microkernel OS projects like Redox and Fuschia that are written in memory safe languages like Rust and Go. That does seem like the future of secure computing. Linux as of now is a 25 year old monolithic implementation of a 46 year old Unix architecture written in 45 year old C with a 30 year old GNU toolchain.
It has evolved a lot though and should continue to improve. Where do you see Linux going in the near future? Better firmware (coreboot, NERF), transitioning from GNU to LLVM, harnessing the increase in core count to further sandbox user space, etc.
