I am looking forward to building my build at either the end of the year or next year. I kind of want to make a compact build that is a powerhouse. One of my friends is a Mac person... He adores the aesthetic appeal of the Mac Pro. I want to build something that makes it look like a cotton gin. I am thinking, by the time the case releases, about putting a AMD zen processor onto a mini itx board. Hopefully, by then they will also have a gtx 1080 ti released as well. (I know that combining the zen processor and gtx 1080 ti sounds like sorcery.)
I'd like to hear other community members ideas for this case.
I hope that the lower (supposed) power draw of the zen processor is 95w. It might create less heat. AMD hasn't been known for making cool running products, but maybe this generation will be the unicorn...
like I said.. they don't like giving us blower style coolers.. the only GPU that had one available and that was WAAAY later was the R9-390.. which is a overheating monstrosity. a blower style for the 380 or the 370.
And with the 200 series only the 290 and the 290x had readily available blower style coolers available..
AMD should give us one for Polaris since it's so efficient.
eh I wouldn't be so sure. AMD sent Austin Evans a blower style R9-270x back when the 200 series launched.. it never came to market for consumers though.
I would like the decent blower stile cooler from AMD. No matter i have great airflow in my case... The blower style may keep the GPU slightly warmer, but it keeps everything else slightly cooler...
I want the big daddy though. Summit Ridge could be a cost effective solution. If AMD can hit a decent IPC target, it might be the alternative to Intel's 8 core I7.
I know airflow is an important factor. If it is a well designed case, it will have decent enough airflow. The only thing I am waiting for is the official specs on the GP102's. If they are longer cards, this case may become an issue. I am hoping they will be roughly the same size as a gtx 1080.
