I have been looking for a keyboard recently. I am trying to spend less than $100, preferably less than $80 or $90 (USD). I don't need the ten-key option. I never use it.
This is the model I have been looking at with brown switches:
My question though is:
Since I will be typing about 60% - 75% of the time, but also want a good gaming switch, which one should I get? I am currently interested in the Brown version for its tactile feedback, but also not so loud, but I am not sure. The keyboard I am currently typing on is a membrane Logitech K120 cause I needed something cheap and easy, so I could spend most of my money on the actual computer, but I make alot of typos with it, which is why im looking to a better keyboard that will last a long time. The loudness is about right I think on the K120, Its not that loud, but its not silent, which i like. That is why i was looking at the brown switch, it still has tactile feedback, but its not overbearingly loud like the blues (in my opinon).
I would just like some of your thoughts if you have used the browns or blues or if you like the reds or whatever, and what you think would be best for typing (for school/coding) and gaming (mostly fps). Hopefully I have provided enough information. If you have the CM Storm Quickfire Rapid in any switch, can you comment on how it feels and any problems you have on it?
Also, are wrist rests worth it?
Thanks a bunch!

I would highly reccomend the rk9000 I think all the switch types are good what kind of typing style are you do you tend to push the key to the back plate or do you touch type? If you push to the back plate get reds other wise look at blues. Browns are a good middle ground.
I tend to bottom out all the keys when I type, but you have to do that on a membrane keyboard. I type somewhat forcefully, you could say. But I do like tactile feedback.
Ok I would reccomend the keyboard I posted above in reds or browns Its a few more dollars then you said you wanted to spend but its worth it. If you are really budget constrained look at this http://www.amazon.com/CM-Storm-QuickFire-Rapid-Mechanical/dp/B007VDKLLM/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1377996177&sr=8-5&keywords=quickfire
It also depends if you want the tactile feed back the reds are easyer to get used to coming from membrane
Alright thanks, I think ill go with the cm storm quckfire rapid in browns because im budget constrained. I looked at some comparison videos and considered your comments. Thanks
You cannot argue with blues.
i have the corsair k90, and i have never seen a keyboard with better build quality. it has cherry red mx switches. i believe corsair says that they are the best gaming switch. they are ok for typing as well !
Reds are generally for gaming, blues more for typing, brown isn't bad if you want a little of both.
I like brown swithces because it is between blue and red and red is mainly aimed at gaming and blues are mainly aimed at typing.

Paint came off at the spot where I rest my thumb.
Other than that, keycap labels get gray-ish very quickly but that's the same for any keyboard where laser engraving with infill is used.
From performance point of view, this keyboard is perfectly fine.
Mine has black switches.
Generally, if you type a lot and you like blues, get them. Only a few games really benefit from linear switches and you probably don't play them.
Also, are wrist rests worth it?
I personally have no need of them whatsoever. My wrists rest on the table while typing.
If you are going to bottom out anyway, you can as well get red or black switches. Whole point of typing switches is that they provide feedback that allows you to actuate without wasting time on bottoming out. Linear switches allow you to bottom out and return faster.
