Where are the DDR5 Unbuffered 256GB 64GBx4 Kits?

Now that vendors have added BIOS support on AMD AM5 & Intel 600/700 motherboards for working with 256GB of Unbuffered RAM, it is clear that if a kit comes it would work.

But I haven’t been able to find one yet!!

What ever 64GB modules I find are Registered/Buffered/Load Reduced.
So Just have to wait ???

256GB Announcements:
ASUS
Asrock
Gigabyte
MSI

In all the vendor’s press releases, they seem to refer to a
Kingston Renegade KF560C36-64 Module…
But I’m not able to find any datasheet level info as of April 2024!

From Arock’s CPU-Z screenshots, what we can make out is that they have been at least manufacturing it from Week 50 of 2023… That means Dec 2023!!

Hoping that it would show up in this page in the near future:

Support is not an indication that the product will appear soon. It will happen eventually, but I wouldn’t count on timing and even support from the current gen CPUs.

Wikipedia gives an overview of theoretical capacity: DDR5 SDRAM - Wikipedia

DDR5 octuples the maximum DIMM capacity from 64 GB to 512 GB.
(comparing to DDR4)

However there is maximum 32 GB unbuffered DDR4, and there is 128 GB registered DDR4.

48 GB unbuffered DDR5 is still new and expensive. And I still don’t see 128 GB registered DDR5.

price ~250-350$ for 1 module

I don’t see unbuffered 64GB module =(

I just sent kingston an email asking about that, seems like it won’t be a thing until next year:

Micron may also be releasing 64GB UDIMMs next year:

but Micron says in the first half of 2025 it’ll offer 64GB modules, expanding total capacity to 256GB of memory.

Oooooo, that’s amazing, thanks a lot for posting that!

Now I just need to find a place that sells those.

Just do your due diligence in compatibility checking first, CUDIMMS will probably not work on anything but latest board+cpus.

Ryzen 8000+9000 reportedly work by bypassing clock module altogether, anything older will not post at all. Ref. https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/1gbm20a/does_amd_support_cudimm/

Also that particular company has a reputation of listing DIMMs up to several years before they are available to the public. They were one of the only companies to eventually release 16GB DDR3 UDIMMs so I doubt it’s complete vaporware.

from corsair site “understanding-corsair-cudimms-a-technical-deep-dive” about support

That’s sadly not too specific. E.g. no mention of older Intel platforms?

Unfortunately it is really not very clear. We have to wait for the BIOS update and modules on sale. So far there are only 32 GB CUDIMM modules on sale right now in China (taobao) HMCG88AHBCA313N

I asked asrock support about сudimm support (M510-CGM9KC1S and HMCG88AHBCA313N). I have X670E Taichi Carrara + Ryzen 7950x3d
Here is their answer:
Regarding your inquiry, CUDIMM currently only works in bypass mode on AM5 platform.

About the CUDIMM you mention, they should be able to work on X670E Taichi Carrara in bypass mode, but we are not able to guarantee that they could work with the rated speed.

Also, we do not have the same memory in our lab, so we are not able to check the compatibility for you.

I asked the manager when it would be on sale and he replied that the memory was available for order, but the delivery time was 10-12 weeks, he didn’t write the price =(

It’s curious how the apparently first 64GB non-registered DIMM to be “available” for sale was a CUDIMM one instead of a regular UDIMM.

I hope we get tons of new models being available by next month, more options is always a good thing, specially when it comes to availability.

Bumping this with some good news!
