I have been torture testing my 4.4 ghz overclock on my 2700k and the max temp I have seen is 64c. Also is thier any better temp viewing programs instead of realtemp?
64 degrees is fine. Here is an article I found it should have the info you need. http://www.cpu-world.com/info/Intel/Overclocking_an_Intel_Core_i7-2700K.html
Note that "safe" temperature just means that thats the point where only some of the chips will survive as some chips are better than others, you might be lucky and have a chip from a good batch.
Here is another place to check out.

coretemp is what I use, but speedfan is good too. 64c isn't bad for a max. highest i've seen on my laptop is 85c, and that was running prime95
Thanks for the feedback, because I am new to overclocking cpus.
