What's the deal with MT7929 Linux driver?

Was looking around for a while for motherboards with built-in USB4 as a personal requirement and ended up going with the ProArt x870e as Linux support was touted as pretty solid in many places online (maybe just based on history with ProArt line?). So far things working well but unable to get any WLAN/ BT working as it’s using the MT7927. I’m a bit confused about why support from Mediatek is taking so long, it seems like people have been asking for a driver for this chip for several years now. The chip seems almost direct clone of MT7925 which got driver support a while ago, just with support for some extra bands. Anybody have any luck running this chip with some modified MT7925 firmware or anything?

I am running into the same issue with the Asus x870e Proart board. It looks like this wifi chip has been out for a year and Mediatek hasn’t released either a mainlined or out of tree module. I really want to drop this board into my main rig but without Bluetooth I just can’t. I am poking thinking of jamming a Bluetooth dongle or something in the machine just to get it going.

I think you can swap out the module by something else (below the heatsink). Intel should be well supported on linux. But note that some intel modules are only compatible with intel CPUs.
