What's going on with Firefox Mobile?

I’m trying to get away from Chrome but Firefox Mobile is so bad I’m stuck with it. It doesn’t render a lot of pages readably and the UI is, to be charitable, annoying.

Development seems to have stalled and they don’t take any notice of bug reports I file except to acknowledge they are indeed a problem. Feels like there are only two interns working on it or something.

Does anyone know what’s going on and if it is ever likely to get better? It’s been basically broken for years now after they removed the code that enabled stuff to render properly on mobile for some reason.

Im currently using Fennec fox and not the official firefox ones. The render quality is acceptable. Ive rarely visited broken pages.

The problem with mobile pages is that they are optimized for chrome only so you will never get a proper render unlike with a chrome engine, which can only ever be an uphill battle.

I’ve tried Fennec, it’s not any better. And it’s not mobile pages that are the worst, normal desktop ones are.

They render too wide, Chrome uses a smaller width so they are readable.

I find browsing pages in desktop mode in cellphones to be problematic. The experience is simply not optimal. “Hover to reveal menus” are broken precisely because you need a mouse and keyboard for those interfaces.
