Only 300 GB hard drive, i5 2400 cpu (not K so no OC or not much of one if you can get it to do anything), a case that a person attempted to mod but ended up with one panel having some red paint sploshed on it, no mention of what the PSU is and if it was any good I'd think the person would have mentioned it and so with that all said what do you guys think this thing is worth? The person is asking for $300 Canadian and honestly despite the fact that even if we knock the value down on each item I am not sure I can get anyone to budge on selling a pc like this for less than $300 Canadian especially in my area. The thing that raises the value of this is the GTX 680 and there is 8 GB of DDR3 ram in the pc instead of the 4 GBs which I have seen at times. Anyway again what do you think it is worth?
$150-$200 (USD), max, ASSUMING the windows install has a COA.
500 watt PSU with GTX 680
warning bells in my head
I am seeing on various places on the net that the card only draws 186 watts. I also have asked the person who is selling this what the brand / model # is for the psu as more info. is required before I consider buying this.
500w PSU with a 680 is absolutely no problem.
If anything that PC could probably get away with 350w PSU as long as the +12 is good enough.
52°C at 3.1GHz sounds like a really low-end cooler, or perhaps it needs some new thermal paste. My 2500 runs at 4.1 and doesn't go beyond 50°C on a Shadow Rock Slim cooler.
As for overclockability, the 2400 can run up to an x38 multiplier, so 3.8GHz. No need to adjust the voltage.
A picture of the internals would have told us a whole lot.
in that case looks like a good deal, probably outperforms my main gaming rig
Yeah it could be close to 6 years old by now. Offer $200 and let him go up if he/you want's to.
Play dumb(like average gamer) and poor rather than technically knowledgeable. People try to sell these things for more to smart sounding people.
Yeah I know It's maybe evil, but whatever.
I could get this video card above for myself for the same amount of cash but I was thinking about getting this pc for my son's mom for Mother's Day. She has never had a nice pc cuz she buys those prebuilt pieces of crap for $500 or so. Also facts are that 980 really won't do the job I want it to for 4K anyway.
Ok the guy emailed me back and in another ad elsewhere he had more info. ....
IBM aluminum+copper core heatsink with 100mm fan
IBM Q65 motherboard (when I search this it seems the motherboard would have been pulled from a Lenovo pc)
and the psu ... Orion 500w 80+ certified (Effective rating is 420W max under low-medium load and 400W under full load.)
: S
Here is the ad and it does show more about the inside of the pc and the bad mod on the one side. However the motherboard and this psu don't seem to desirable to me. Also the mod of the case on closer look is pretty bad. There also seems to be something strange on the top in one pic in terms of case color degradation.
Low-end heatsink (as I suspected), bad PSU, motherboard (and maybe the PSU too) pulled from a prebuilt, zero cable management, missing PCI slot covers, etc etc.
Some of it is dirty (rear fan) and some is clean (check the top of the PSU, there's zero dust on that). That looks suspiciously like a build from leftover parts with the sole intention of selling it.
Personally I wouldn't even bid on it, I'd just turn around and walk away.
Yeah no buy for me now as once I saw the mobo was from a prebuilt I was done with it.
This thing looks nasty.
Would not bid.
Not even an IO shield, for all you know this thing is dead anyway.
Also look in the back there, new system plus RGB keyboard, it's a recycled trashputer he's just dumping.
That POS doesn't look worth your time. Spare urself the trouble and put the funds from that toward a new current upgrade instead.
It was decided some time ago now that this would not be purchased and the guy selling it still has it up for sale. LOL!
