What Should I upgrade?

Hi to all who read this.

The following are my laptop specifications.

MSI GT 780 DXR

Intel i7 2760 QM 2.40 GHz

16 GB 1333 Mhz DDR3 Ram

NVIDIA GTX 570M 3GB DDR5

2x 750 GB Seagate 7200 rpm hard drives (Raid 0)

I was wondering as to what I should upgrade as I want to do more rendering and recording on my laptop but my framerate lags quite significantly when I record with Bandicam whilst playing at 1080p on high settings. I was thinking of adding a Kingston HyperX 3K 120 GB SSD and also changing my ram to 16GB of Corsair Vengeance 1866mhz ram. I was wondering as to whether or not I am on the right track or should I spend my money on something else entirely?

All help is greatly appreciated.

You do realize that the GTX 570m is a underclocked 560 (non-Ti), right? Furthermore, it's a pretty severe 30% underclock (575MHz from 810MHz). I'm almost positive you're running into a GPU bottleneck. Either turn the settings way down, or record at 720p, which it was designed to do.

If you insist on 1080p recording on high settings, you're best bet is a new laptop with at least a GTX 670MX. The MX is Kepler GK106, used in 660, while the 670M is is a re-branded 570M, which I just explained is a 560 heavily underclocked.

The 680M and 680MX are both kepler chips based on the 670 and 680 respectively.
