I found this odd looking device that was hung from a wire (for satellite tv) running along my house in the back yard. I didn’t put it there and I live with my 3 year old son and 2 dogs… whom I doubt put it there.
It looks like a wireless access point. But to put this where it was you’d have to get over the 10 foot walls around the yard then cross paths with a Labrador and Terrier.
It looks like it was designed to be water resistant, as it has a rubber gasket opening the battery cover and opening the unit itself there was another one. There was no brand markings anywhere on the unit.
Pictures to follow but this raised a few questions. Am I right in saying this is a wireless access point? I searched for the model number etc and found nothing on it.
If it is a wireless access point is it as simple as someone piggy backing off my wifi? Either so they don’t have to pay for it or for more sinister purposes.
Is it possible it’s transmitting audio or video (have ex wife issues lol - feel free to laugh with me). Ex wife issues though were years ago and this definitely wasn’t there roughly 10 months ago as I painted the house.
It's most certainly something that uses wireless technology to communicate. I doubt that it is a wifi access point, as double AA batteries wouldn't run it for very long. and feel like it is more along the lines of a bug (ohhhhhhhhhh, CIA shiz). What it transmit I have no clue. Perhaps taking out the circuit board would give a clue to what it does, I see some small bit that might stick outside the case or have access to the outside.
Considering the general stereotype with ex wife things, it's possible that someone is trying to get information off you? Sketch stuff right here.
It's a remotely detonated bomb. /s Going to follow this thread alike @Josh_Mck, could be interesting. lol Spent a couple minutes googling, I couldn't find anything either.
More pictures might help, top, bottom, left, right, front, back and the inside of both the two halves once it's cracked open.
