All right, so I have been told that integrated graphics cost about half the cost to make a CPU, so it makes up about half the cost. When I heard this, I immediately wondered what would happen if Intel made a CPU running on a LGA 1150 or 2011 socket. Think about getting an i5 for about 100 dollars on an LGA 1150 socket. I thought intel for two reasons: 1- The CPUs are stronger and more expensive with Intel, and 2- I think AMD has a few CPUS without onboard graphics. Now, I might be mistaken, and there actually might be one or two without onboard graphics, but I am looking to see what other people think about this. I told someone about this idea, and he said AMD would go out of business if it happened. Tell me what you guys think. :)
Not sure if troll?
Only "low cost" or "mainstream" Intel CPUs have integrated graphics. Oh, and ones meant for laptops.
Xeons and higher end i5/i7 CPUs do not have integrated graphics. Many intel CPUs do not have graphics, in fact.
CPUs meant for portable devices sometimes have integrated graphics. There are OEM version of even the mainstream i3/i5/i7 cpus that do not have integrated graphics.
LGA 2011 CPUs already don't have integrated GPUs.
Xeons don't have iGPUs I believe.
Otherwise if the cost were significantly lower yes, it probably would put AMD out of business
Sorry, not troll. I just don't know much, I guess. It just occurred to me.
please do some research before making another thread.
Ok, then.
Mainstream Intel Processors have integrated graphics. High end chips like Xeons on the Mainstream platform, or Socket 2011 and Socket 2011-3 don't have integrated graphics. so this is no surprise. if you mean what would happen if Intel made lets say a "4790k" or "4690k" and just removed $100 bucks or $50 bucks from the base price and left it strictly with just a CPU and no iGPU. AMD would go out of business. cause what would be the point AMD's CPUs if Intel beats them and Price & Performance? personally I don't think Intel wants AMD to go out of business as crazy as that sounds.
like wendell allready pointed out.
The highend enthusiast cpu´s from intel dont have intergrated graphics.
Also most mainstream Xeon E3 cpu's dont have intergrated graphics either, aside from a few models which do have an igpu.
But they could in theory just release a consumer dual/quad core with no graphics on die no?
Kinda like they could in theory release an i6 processor with 3 cores and hyper threading for 6 total threads.
its also annoying/spooky that a few of the e3 xeons with igpu can only output vga. because insanity? I've had that issue before ivy bridge for sure. Not 100% sure about e3 haswells.
i suppose it has something to do with the C-series 11xx boards.
i think most of them only have a VGA output.
Beware VGA revision 999. It will bring VGA back from the edge of obscurity and take over the display world one missing pin at a time. . . . .
If one specific pin is removed or breaks off it outputs everything in a sweet/creepy red hue. Fun for a Halloween setup maybe?
