I’ve picked up a Lenovo Edge ThinkPad 15 0301-CFG for cheap mainly for it’s great selection of media ports.
I can’t seem to find out whether it used ExpressCard v2.0 or not - can anyone confirm?

this all I can really find when going through Chipset specs:
PCI Express*
— NEW: 8 PCI Express root ports
— NEW: PCI Express 2.0 specification running at
2.5 GT/s.
— NEW: Ports 1–4 or Ports 5–8 can independently
be configured to support four x1s, two x2s, one
x2 and 2 x1s, or one x4 port widths.
— Support for full 2.5 Gb/s bandwidth in each
direction per x1 lane
— Module based Hot-Plug supported (such as,
ExpressCard*)
Why don’t you list here the main specs of your laptop? Searching the model number does not return many results.
I have been searching a little, does your laptop have a 1st-gen Intel CPU?

You have shared everything in one reply
Today is a special day of your life since you have defeated another year and that I wish I had been there with you on this particular afternoon. Get my best wishes and enjoy! Happy Birthday Brother in Law
I would say your laptop has ExpressCard 1.0
Expresscard 2.0 was announced just one year before your computer was launched. And being an Edge variant of Thinkpads I don’t think Lenovo would include something as new in that moment.
Also from that wikipedia page I understand that computers that use Expresscard 2.0 also have USB 3, and your computer/chipset only has USB 2.0.
This link talks about the same thing, that computer is the same generation as yours but in the high-end class, and it is only a ExpressCard 1.0, and mathches the speeds of your 2nd comment. So I think you have ExpressCard 1.0
Computers known to have ExpressCard 3.0 and ExpressCard 2.0 are these: https://egpu.io/expresscard-2-0-egpu-interface-pros-cons-candidate-notebook-list/#7th

Alex
Thank Alex! I appreciate the effort put in here
I might look at getting a 3g card if it’s only ExpressCard V1.0
