So a few months ago I installed Ubuntu with gnome shell. I've really been enjoying the experince but I keep getting these weird graphics glitches. Ill post a picture below. These graphic problems are really starting to drive me crazy. I love Gnome because of how good looking it is and this is ruining it. These glitches mainly appear to the left of windows but sometimes happen in other places
Never had those before but i am running gnome only on Debian which is an older version and more stable. It could be a driver issue. Do you have an AMD or an Nvidia card and which drivers? AMD proprietary drivers are known to cause glitches on gnome based GUIs.
The glitches were present after an update that was patched the next day. Maybe check your updates again, it should be patched. The problem is that most projects like DE's are migrating to Wayland, which doesn't work on Ubuntu because of Mir. A lot of evolution of Gnome has to do with Wayland, so the number of glitches in Gnome on Ubuntu will probably increase going forward. Wayland is prety well supported on bleeding edge distros right now, but it's nowhere near complete, so there will be a lot of breakage along the way, nothing extraordinary for Gnome, but it is what it is.
If an update doesn't work, I would recommend uninstalling Gnome with full dependency cleanup, and then reinstalling it. That pretty easy and fast to do, and doesn't break anything.
