What are peoples thoughts on the WD My Cloud?
I need some off Computer storage for my workstation, I honestly would like a full on NAS but dont want the extra heat or space taken up in my studio. So what are peoples thoughts on this? I will 75% of the time be using it directly plugged into my workstation via USB3 and occasionally networked to other devices.
Any other options?
i have the one with a single drive it it, and there is no way to directly connect to your workstation, the USB port is for connecting external hard drives to it so you can also connect to them over the network. Mine is good for how I use it, backups and having stuff not limited to a single machine.
Seems silly to not be able to directly plug a device in, any recommendations of expandable storage device that would plug directly in? Doesn't Have to have networking option too
Sounds like you just need an external hard drive! although from my experience with it, it is nice to be able to just connect to it from any machine without the need to eject it and plug in elsewhere. I can also connect to it from my phone, and work computer if I need anything off it.
