I am seriously considering getting a WASD V2 in the coming weeks and I was wondering has anyone here living in Europe bought one. I hear some not great things about the shipping and import costs in the reviews on their website from European customers.
Good question! I am wondering about this too!
Not a fan of they're keyboards, but not sure
Oh? Any reason? Any other suggestions?
Probably cause they are Fugly, Minimal to the highest degree, and lack media controls. Lol
Ah okay, those are the things I like about it. And it does have media controls under a Function key.
I can recommend you the KBC Poker II. Its the most hyped board on r/mechanicalkeyboards, and I really love it.
I will take a look thanks. Right now the two main ones for me are the Filco majestouch 2 ninja TKL and the WASD v2 TKL. I will have to look around more.
EDIT: Thanks for the suggestion but that is way to small for my comfort.
I would go for a filco or ducky m8
Any reason? The filco only comes in MX red, I would like black minimum. Reds are just too soft.
Okay, yes its very compact. Maybe you can share your thoughts about buying at WASD from Europe, if you get one from them. They also sell nice keycaps ;)
shipping costs are ridiculous pal, your better off sticking to another brand unfortunately. You can see what the cost will be by putting in it your basket and calculating shipping
I did and compared to everything else they have the kind of options/spec I am looking for and are pretty spot on with the price shipping included. It works out to around €150 which is the price of a half way decent keybaord round these parts.
In truth I had looked hard for a long time to find a good keyboard, could not find it got burnt on one and now I am back looking. I am very picky with keyboards, mostly because I will be touching and using it a lot so I want it right. After a few weeks of searching this (V2) seems about perfect. And like I said, compared to everything else actually reasonable on price.
The other option for me to get exactly what I want would be a custom Phantom PCB Solder all the switches my self, buy a set of VERY hard to find keycaps, Buy a Filco case to house it and and individual shipping on everything which makes the final price closer to €300.
Short of a European equivalent of WASD with options for switch type, key layout and keycaps (WASD are only ABS I would prefer PBT) this is about as good as it gets for me.
EDIT: Unless someone can go me one better and find a company that does the same thing in Europe?
Yeah I wold be happy to share if/when it happens. The only thing missing from WASD for me is PBT keycaps, they only do ABS a bit of a letdown for custom high end keyboard maker not ot offer them. They also don't offer side keycap printing.
In time I might end up replacing the the keycaps but that is a future issue.
On the Poker II, if I built a LAN PC for lugging round I would totally get one, but for a permanent desk keyboard I would like something a little bigger/normal. Thanks for the suggestion.
