Warcraft 3 Lutris

I installed Warcraft 3 under Lutris about a year or 2 ago, I haven’t played it in a while and decided to boot it up again… to my surprise, it no longer works. The Battle.net launcher doesn’t have a problem launching, but as soon as I try to launch the game, I am greeted with a black screen with some graphical anomaly gibberish, and that’s as far as it gets before I have to kill the app. I’ve tried the newest version of GE-Wine available on Lutris to no avail. Tried adding the “-d3d11” launch option as well, still doesn’t work. I assume the latest few patches broke it for Linux? I have an installation of Starcraft 2 on Lutris as well… and that seems to work just fine.

Anybody solve this problem before?

Is this the classic or reforged version? I installed Warcraft 3 under Lutris from disc, and and I’m not experiencing a black screen.

Didnt the game get a 2.0 update this week that also included graphics overhaul? Maybe Lutris needs to update some stuff to make the new version work

Last time I ran it, the Reforged and Classic versions were merged into one, but if you never bought the Reforged version, you don’t get the updated graphics and you’re left with the Classic graphics.

Graphics overhaul? That’s news to me… I’ll check it out.

I believe I heard the update brought HD models and textures to units and buildings. Whether this is any specific reason for graphical errors in Lutris IDK, but it seems like it may have some correlation

The game menu is not the same renderer as in-game. For this purpose, the recent update doesn’t matter here. Besides, all they did was to add alternative models/textures. I have no idea how to fix this, I’ve had this too.
