VLAN AP Setup

I have the following set up for my router currently:

OpnSense → Netgear unmanaged 20 port gigabit Switch → Ubiquiti U6+ AP

I have a VLAN created that has automatic DHCP assignment enabled, and I would like to add the AP to the VLAN, instead of the LAN. How can I accomplish this?

You usually can’t using unmanaged switches, some leave VLAN tagging alone but it’s undocumented and unreliable.

Do you want the AP itself to be on that VLAN, or just make an SSID go to a specific VLAN?

Personally I’ve had good luck with unmanaged switches passing on tagged VLAN’s

In this case, just assign a tagged VLAN on the interface that goes to the switch, then configure the AP with the tagged VLAN SSID and it SHOULD work

But as already said by @diizzy, its not really a supported config

If you want the AP to be on the VLAN, It think you’re out of luck

Always use managed switches when using vlans.
