VGA Passthrough Threadripper 2950X Status?

Hi,

i was wondering what the current status is for VGA Passthrough with the 2950x?

I’m thinking about switching to AMD 2950X from Intel.
And with my 5820k/MSI X99A combo i did not have any problems setting up VGA Passthrough.
IOMMU groups are perfect and i Just had to add some stuff to to grub etc; the usual setup i’d say.
My question is, does one still have to recompile the kernel or anything like that when setting up VGA passthrough with threadripper, specifically the 2950x? Or is it basically “mainstream” :smiley: now?

Is there a certain motherboard that provides perfect IOMMU groups maybe or ones that don’t?

I do not intent to use a Vega GPU. If i understand correctly, the reset bug with those is a seperate issue from threadripper. So that won’t be a problem, right?

I have a 2950x with pci passthrough and it was all straight forward to setup. I cant comment on the reset bug though.

My only problem is not being able to control Asus Aura on linux.

I’m really interested in vga passthrough on threadripper. I’m going to build one computer just the same as yours.

May I ask you about your software usage?
and also the Hypervisor you use?

are you use esxi ? or you’re using KVM?

And i’d like to know how you deal with usb device like mouse and keyboard?
