I saw this a few hours ago. Looks pretty cool although I'm not al that sure about the size of the machine and the amount performance it can accomodate.
Im really digging the name though... Valve, Steam, Piston, I like the continuïty in it.
I agree its abit to small for my liking, the form factor would only really be good for a AMD APU like the a10 5800k but as the PSU is only 40watt and am really not sure what they are going to fit in there for "real" gaming grunt.
Thats the real kicker.. but this will be an open hardware platform; so its possible that valve creates a linux only reference version and some other hardware gaming company creates a larger version with more power.
i really hope its a good year for linux, with the way windows and osx are going...
actually I'm rather impressed with how this computer is actually 3 peices soo it just might be able to be a powerhouse for its size.
First of all, I love the name and the fact it's all open for the buyer to tweak and mod.
Though I don't really understand the sales pitch for this? I mean, something so small is obiviously going to be much weaker then the majority of PC gamers computers, but isn't that their target audience? Wasn't this made to pull them into the living room and to play socially IRL? I'm not quite sure but I do not think this is enough to pull PC gamers away from their computers let alone splash out (I think I read approx £620/$1000 somewhere) simply for soecial gaming. I can think of much cheaper ways of having fun with my friends and leave gaming until my evenings alone.
