I have a chance to buy a used EAH5850 DirectCU TOP/2DIS/1GD5 for around 116$.
It's has never been overclocked and it's not very used.
Just wanted to know if this would be a great buy. I know it's very cheap, but I just need to know if it would be strong
enough to handle current and upcoming games, on high settings.

No. That card will not handle new games at high settings and in my opinion its a bit pricy for an old, used graphics card.
i have the EAH5850 DirectCU TOP/2DIS/1GD5 and i can play all games an the highest settings but with NO FILTERS.
- i finished Bioshock Infinite, RAGE, Borderlands 2 on max with no filters ; i am at 30% on Assassins Creed 3 on max.
the 116$ is way too much... if you can't have it for under 100$ maybe you can save and buy a newer model. Also , is very important to think about your future plans for that PC rig : if you want GAMES and pretty looking games than buy another model... if you want movies and the occasional facebook games... then buy the 5850
