Usb type C on Asus ROG Strix x370-i

Hi there first post here, but a fan of the lvl 1 since the beginning
I’m a 3D modeler, I just built my first workstation, it’s a mini itx using Asus ROG Strix x370-i, unfortunately it doesn’t have a type C port, and I’m planning to buy a Wacom Cintiq Pro 16 which uses the type C for 4k display (it comes with a DVI adapter but it will downscale to 1440) llegamos, the motherboard doesn’t come with it, do you guys have any idea what I could do to adapt it? And if it will downscale anyway?
Thx

It looks like you might need to use the included Wacom Link to seperate the DisplayPort and USB signals from the type-C. This unfortunately, as you said, limits the resolution to 1440p.

If there was a type-C port on that motherboard, it wouldn’t work because the chips in the current AM4 lineup don’t have integrated GPUs, which is required to run DisplayPort over type-C and USB on the same port.

I don’t know if it’s possible - that’s if the tablet supports it - but you could potentially use a type-C hub with an HDMI 2.0 port to seperate the two signals. (Just checked Wacom’s site, and they say that they don’t support HDMI, so that’s killed this option…)

If you had a larger motherboard, it looks like some people have had success with this add-in card http://www.sunix.com/en/product_detail.php?cid=1&kid=2&gid=11&pid=1909

It looks like the 1440p limit caused by the Wacom Link is because they’re using an older DisplayPort specification for it, rather than it being an inherent limitation of the tablet, itself.
