USB memory stick issues

I was in school the other day when someone threw a 4 gb memory stick at me from a top floor window.

When I got home I pugged it in and tried to format it but an error message came up. When I try to copy files to or from the usb or to edit the files on it comes up with the error message shown in the picture:

Can someone please tell me how to fix it if its possible?

Maybe it is junk? Why else would someone throw it out of a window?

Try to reformat it through comand prompt.

If it dosent work than it may have belonged in the trash.
