Upgrading Laptop Bios on Linux

Hey guys got me another ThinkPad, this time a T61(14.1",4:3, 1400x1050). Anyways I've got all the upgrade parts in the mail, and the main thing I plan on upgrading is to a SSD. Anyways from what I read is that it is necessary to upgrade the bios to the Middleton Bios so that it will get much better reading and writing speeds. Well I plan on installing Fedora 24 on it, and all of the instructions for the update I have found are for Windows programs. Anyone have experience doing this? If so please help. I believe for the most part I can update via the bios instead of these bs ways I have seen.

From what I read there's an included iso you can burn and mount at boot?

Also, fedora 25 is out.

thanks, haven't really messed with Fedora at all. I've mainly used Crunchbang and Debian, so was gonna test out Fedora.

just download something like HBCD and use minixp to update the bios that way
