I currently have a Asus P6X58D-E MB with a i7 970. Running a ATI HD5850 Card. Is it even worth upgrading the Video card considering the MB only runs PCIe 2.0 or should i just upgrade my whole system, new MB w/PCIe 3.0 and a new i5/i7 processor and new 3.0 card? im just worried about the PCIe 2.0 being a bottleneck and not even worth upgrading the GPU vs building a new rig. Obviously im trying to spend less, but if i should just wait and upgrade everything else instead of just getting a new GPU then i will do that later. Just seeing what your guys thoughts are.
You'll be fine simply upgrading your GPU. PCIe 2.0 x16 is perfectly capable right now.
