So back in 2011 I built my first computer. Short story on it, budget 1200, i5-2500(non-k), Gigabyte Z68xp-ud3p mobo, 16GB Corsair Vengance 4x4GB kit, 2x 1TB HDD, and GTX 560 2GB SC GPU, and 750W Bronze semi modular Corsair PSU. In the past year to year and a half, I have upgraded to a GTX 970, adding a 250GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD (then replacing it last week with 1TB SSD from Muskin), 2x8GB Kingston Hyperx memory, and an HP LP3065 2K monitor from my employer that I bought.
I want to upgrade/rebuild my computer. I went to college for Game design but majored in IT. I want to be able to running Unreal Engine Dev kit and Cyengine on my machine well, so I can get back into Game design. I do also want to play around with some Virtual Machining as well. I also want to keep this system around for another 5 to 6 years without major upgrades, such as CPU and motherboard. My budget is MAX $850. I already have software, GPU, Case, PSU, and storage, and the prephials covered. I am going up to my "local"(2 hour drive) Microcenter to pick their brains and check out deals and pricing they have in-store. I live in the United states and in the New England area.
SO TLDR: Budge $850 I need CPU, Motherboard, and RAM (if 2011-v3 Cooler as well, my Hyper Evo 212 did not come with that hardware). Also what would be better for this type of situation Intel Skylake, or Intel Haswell-E. OH OH I also do play games. I primarily play RTS such as Battlefleet Gothic, I also play ARK Survival Evolved, Tom Clancy's The Division. So let the ideas fly loose!
Go with Haswell-E, i7 5820 which has 6cores and 12 threads, which has really good price to performance when compared to skylake currently.

Then this probably to start, maybe get a nicer motherboard

Second on this. Haswell-E/X99 holds the price-performance and longevity crowns at this point in time. A few words of advice for X99 however:
DDR4-2666 or below unless you enjoy balancing XMP profiles with your FSB. A good kit of DDR4-2666 with low timings will perform better than a faster kit with worse timings anyway, so it's not a loss.
Get a large dual-tower air cooler or an AIO water cooler. Haswell-E enjoys low temps like any CPU, but its cutoff is lower than your standard quad-core i7s and i5s. You want them to be below 70C during load.
He says right there all the things he needs.
I read the other stuff as need.
If I built a system right now I would go haswell-E/x99 as well. Also down the line you could find a cheap xeon from a server and upgrade your CPU (that is if x99 supports Xenos, did Intel do any fuckery on x99?)
I have set my heart on doing the x99 system. Yesterday when I did my scouting I picked up 32GB of Corsair Vengance DDR4 (2x (2x8 Kits) ) and I picked up the Corsair H100i v2 I believe. I am writing this at my desktop at work on a saturday so the parts are not in-front of me. Now here is a big question for everyone, Which motherboard maker do you like and WHY? I am having an extremely hard time deciding on that. To give you an idea I am looking at the Asrock x99 Extreme 6/3.1 or 6/ac, Gigabyte X99 UD3P-SLI (has thunderbolt and USB 3.1 A and C, MSI Krait, and an ASUS x99-a/usb3.1. Any advice on motherboard makers?
Good for you man. You wont be disappointed. Uhmm so just a bit of advice. If your ever going to upgrade it. Only upgrade the video cards if you need it.. Otherwise wait until there really is a sound upgrade. I.e if your on the X platform.. and you were on X58 like myself I did not upgrade until 2011-3. This was the first real upgrade and a whole new platform change all together. You get the most bang for the buck that way and plus you save yourself the heart ache of being disappointed by the minimal improvements on revisions each year or so
If you're going with 5820k get it at microcenter.com it's cheapest plus u get 50 dollar off motherboard if u buy both. Nothing beats it unless it's frys or slickdeals with huge discount or buying it from a guy who stock them back when they were 200 a pop.
Yeah X99 will be a good choice for the workload you are aiming at.
I would go with something like this: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/wVfT8d
For the cooler i choosed for a Corsair H110i GTX 280mm aio,
if that fits your case it will be a good cooler for that particular cpu.
If you want aircooling, then there are also some nice options out there.
But i would personaly not use the cheapest CM hyper 212 evo.
I would recommend to go with something a bit more decent then,
like the Noctua NH-D15, Cryorig R1 Ultimate, Phanteks PH-TC14PE or similar, for better cooling capicity.

Thank you everyone for your advice and your suggestions. I have purchased all the parts for my rebuild. Here is a link the my final build. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/HWTjYJ Please Keep in mind I did go over the 800 dollar budget because I paid more for RAM at micro-center. (my mistake) however I am willing to shop "local". (I know microcenter is not a Local business but they are few in New England area thus purchasing from them). Once the build is complete I will definitely take pictures for all to see.

Looks good to me.
Why did you choose to go with the 5930K over the 5820K?
Was there an interesting price discount on the 5930K?
Otherwise the $200,- price premium for the 5930K for 12 extra pci-e lanes, isnt realy worth it in most cases.
I am looking towards the future. First time I build my system the i7s were WAY too expensive. Even the i7-2600 at I think 300 was too much for me, and I thought I would never need that much power. Now I wanted to max out the machine to the best my budget to do. I know the 200 price difference is a big difference however I hope that this processor, lasts much longer. That and if I decide down the road to upgrade to an m.2 I want to make sure that the cpu will not be the bottleneck or if I add another 970 later on.
