They got Unreal, UT, and UT2004 released from Epic over at OldUnreal. They even have ARM builds so it can technically run on a Pi 3. UT2004 was the only online multiplayer game I ever got serious in to playing.
There have been people over on Twitch with the occasional stream, and maybe I’ll throw my hat in the ring there for laughs.
It would be pretty sweet to get some people together. Given the low requirements and free game maybe people can convince their friends to become giblets with us. Anybody been playing around with these old Unreal games recently?
Thanks for sharing this. UT2004 was also the only online multiplayer game I ever really got serious on for a few years until UT3 came out, which was somehow meh then things got busy as an adult so gaming fell to the road side.
Reminds me of the ‘LAN Misfits’ party days. One member of our clan built a nice house with a huge basement full of aux power, tables, chairs, routers, and FPS nerds.
I remember few years back that UT2004 on linux had some audio issues anf you had to wrap it in sort of audio wrapper script. Also one library .so file was always missing from the game that I had to grab from old version of Ubuntu.
