UltraSurf, FreeGate etc

I don't know if you've heard of these but it's software that's been around awhile. I don't really know to much about it to really feel secure. It proclaims to setup and proxy tunnel thats fully encrypted and I have used it in an IT position and it was very difficult to get any headway into looking at traffic through the tunnel and it also preforms fast which seems strange seeing as how Tor is some what similar but considerably slow. Also it's not open-source but it's free and requires not entry from the user about personal info or config user flows. Im talking mainly about ultrasurf but there are others that seem to come from the same people or minds. Please look into this to ease my worry, if it's actually a great way to protect your traffic then that's great but I don't trust anything that's not FOSS. Also these programs actually bypass any and all internet site blocking and keeps IT guys from being able to look into it. I use to run all of my traffic on my computer through it but then I got worried and thought I was trusting it with too much.
