Hi all,
I put together a build for a friend a few months ago using similar parts however since then some prices have come down (except RAM) and I thought I might be able to put together a decent kill your console build for people in the UK.
Intel motherboard: Great board for the price it has: UEFI, 1x SATA 6Gb/s and 5x 3Gb/s, 2x back usb 3 and 2x usb 3 headers. only real downsides are it's not z77 and it has only 2 RAM slots. £46.37
AMD option: 6x SATA 6Gb/s, 2x rear usb 3 and 1x usb 3 header, UEFI, 2 RAM slots. £43.25
Intel Processor: Better than the one I used in my friends build it's only a dual core but dont let that put you off this thing runs all the games I've played on it fine including RTS games. Onboard graphics are awful but if I was making an onboard bulid I would probably go AMD. £43.25
AMD option: Not using this for onboard graphics as it has none but I included it when I saw a video someone linked in another thread comparing this CPU to a haswell i5 for gaming and the results showed a close match between the two. Should also support fast RAM and can be overclocked. £59.35
RAM: 8gigs, runs at 1866 (though the processor only supports 1333) and relitivly cheap given the recent price rises. £41.40
PSU: 80+, pretty good reviews and includes a 6pin and a 6+2pin. Downsides are only 2x molex and dual rail rather than single. £32.34
CPU Cooler: Great low profile cooler I use one myself and I used one in the build for my friend really happy with it as load temps are completely acceptable even with a small overclock. It is also very quiet if you turn the fan speed down a little in the bios. £10.88. Note: This can't be used with the AMD build.
Hard Drive: Bog standard 1Tb hdd. SATA 6Gb/s should have decent read/write speeds. £46.20
Optical Drive: Only really useful for installing windows, Cheap and cheerful. £13.15
Case: Haven't used/seen one before but it seems good for the price with front usb3. Comes with only one fan I believe. £24.69
Graphics:
GTX 670. Should run most anything without a problem, twin frozr should keep it nice and cool. I will probably update with some more budget friendly opptions but this is a great price for a 670. £179.60 (free shipping). You can go to the top of the website and click today only (I think the deals last a week) and find it for £176.58 (with shipping)
GTX 650Ti Boost Great little nvidia budget card should perform close to a 7870 and 660 and better than 7850. £99.98
7950: I own a 7970 my self and seeing as this should only be slightly worse I can recomend it. Has a twin frozr like the 670 and comes with three games. This should also overclock quite well. £193.95 (with shipping)
7790 For the same price your better off going with the 650Ti boost but if your set on amd this is good for the money.
Total Intel (excluding graphics): £261.21 Total AMD (excluding graphics): £260.38
I realise this is a little more than even the xbox but like I said I will look out for a more affordable graphics card and update I find anything worth mention.
Accessories
Monitor: Full HD (1920x1080), DVI only however should do the job on a budget, I own a LG monitor myself and am very happy with it.
Headset: Amazon reviews are quite favourable and for £20 you cant go wrong.

Mouse: Great mouse for a good price, feels good in the hand and has 5 buttons.
