After suspending screen goes dark and fan switches off for about .2 of second then spins back up, screen stays dark.
Fan continues to spin and burns through about 10% battery per hour. Hitting any key screen turns on and wake up is almost instant.
Computer: Dell Vostro 5481 bios up to date
OS: Ubuntu 18.04 and same problem on 19.04
I have to shutdown everytime, really annoying when your are running LUKS, plz help

Does it suspend properly, if you use the command
systemctl suspend
You donât have any of the wake settings on? Like wake upon usb activity or network activity or anything like that.
What does this log file show?
/var/log/pm-suspend.log
This has some pretty good info:

Thanks for the input.
systemctl suspend only suspends for .2 of a sec then the fan switches back on, screen stays black.
Donât have a âpm-suspend.logâ or anything like â/var/run/do-not-hibernateâ.
It is a fresh install of ubuntu 18 (also tried 19).
I suspect is a firmware issue with Dell.
I wonder if that means that the network manager requested the wake up of the machine.
What does the following command show?
sudo ethtool
Didnât have ethtool, now I do:
sudo ethtool -h
ethtool version 4.15
