Ubuntu 20.04 Software Store has no icons or previews

I’m at my wits end with this issue and would like some help from someone more experienced if possible…

I have installed Ubuntu 20.04 twice now and the system itself is rock solid but for the life of me I cannot get the Ubuntu Software Store to show icons or previews. I’m almost certain it’s due to a preference file or config in my home directory. But I’ve cycled through all of them moving them out of home and launching the store to see what new config it would create etc.

Nothing. If I create a vm with Ubuntu 20.04 everything works fine. It has to be something in my home directory and I’m losing it.

See attached.

There is an icon cache somewhere in /usr.

Look for ways to regenerate it.

When you installed it did you verify the ISO checksum to make sure your download was not partially corrupted?

The iso I used to install on my main host is also the same iso used to install in the vm. And the vm properly displays the ubuntu store icons.

I also tried running the following:

sudo update-icon-caches /usr/share/icons/*

Does nothing. Still missing all the icons and app previews in ubuntu store.
