The Irony is i had RMA’d a U6 Pro and they gave me the U7 as a replacement … that’s where the issues started
Have you tried the new 8.7.11 firmware?
I’ve been trying the Early access as they have been getting released with 8.7.11 being the current one but the issues sill there sadly ![]()
If you click edit or reply to your post over there. There is a paperclick icon you can chose to upload files.
I’d have had a go but apparently now “This thread is locked and replying has been disabled.” haha
Have you tried WPA3 or WPA2/WPA3 mode?
I haven’t as when i try it get a message of “WPA3 enforces PMF, which may disconnect legacy or IoT clients. To avoid this, we strongly recommend a separate WPA2 broadcast with PMF disabled.”
Also make sure your IoT network is locked to a specific 2.4GHz channel. I have a few devices that are too dumb to handle the AP switching channels and need a power cycle to reconnect.
That’s what I’m trying to get away from I’ve got 3 AP’s with the 2 outer ones on CH6 and the inner one I’m trying to change to CH11 to free up the air space as CH1 clashes with my zigbee network and i dont want to pair 174 devices to change my Zigbee CH.
Man that’s such a shame because I was really going to:
- Get into ESP32s, Home Assistant and all this stuff
- Replace my APs with U7 Pros because they run cooler than my U6 Ent

Unless you have serious issues with your U6’s there is no way the U7’s are cooler, I’ve just had to 3d print a bracket for a 120mm fan as it was running between 82 and 84 decrees C all day every day
The U6 Ent has a 25W max output, and it’s currently running at 14W, whereas I did an estimate for the U7 Pro which has an estimate of 13W total, and I could make it run at 9W (in a fanless config)
If I was going to upgrade. The XG would be minimal. But being me I would probably end up splurging on the best and that is the E7. Which is what got me into the current mess i am in now. Because I have had nothing but problems with my U7-Pro-Max’s. The U6-enterprise is just as fast most of the time and has a 2.5GbE. And in my opinion it is perfect for 6E. But i think 2.5GbE is dumb for wifi 7. And that is why i would recommend the XG. Because of it being newer. It gave them some time to fix the software side a bit. But other than the 10GbE not sure what the difference is. But i would have to recommend the U7-XG over the U7-Pro.
I am not using a dedicated iot network. And i have never had any issues with my 20+ iot devices not being on their own network. But i can see it being an issue for some things. So maybe someday ill switch them to their own network. About 90% of my iot stuff is 5ghz compatible. And so my 2.4ghz band is disabled across my WIFI 7 ap’s. I have a dedicated U6 Pro setup for 2.4ghz. That is only used for the 2 lonely 2.4ghz iot devices that i have. I should replace that something that uses less power.
I have a bunch of iot stuff and it works fine with my settings. But sadly I’m not sure how to help op out. My guess would be something it set wrong on their setup.
Well, i bit the bullet on 3 EnGenius AP’s
But its turns out where Unifi offer Private Pre-Shared Keys (1 SSID multi Vlan chosen by password) this is locked behind a paywall in EnGenius Cloud ![]()
