Hello,
I have been a happy user of the Level1Techs KVM for about 4 years, but today I have lost the ability to switch between the connected PC’s with the hotkey from the keyboard. Not only that, I haven’t made any changes to my hardware setup, which is extra confusing. No changes to keyboard, monitor setup, etc.
I had rebound the Ctrl key to the right one instead of the left one, and I remember pressing RCtrl 3 times would give me a beep indication that the hotkey was the right one. Now, when I press RCtrl 3 times, nothing happens. RCtrl RCtrl [1-2] doesn’t work either.
I thought maybe I had reset the state of the kvm, and that the key had returned to left control, but doing the same on LCtrl doesn’t do anything either. Power cycling the KVM doesn’t do anything either.
Is there a way to “reset” the KVM? Are there troubleshooting steps?
I have the 2x2 DisplayPort KVM.
Thanks!
sigh, I don’t know what I changed, but it’s working now again. Sorry for the spam.
I pressed the physical button twice, and then spammed right control, and it started working again.
i have the same issue where double tapping control to switch device doesn’t work anymore. i googled and found your last reply. i tried your method for the heck of it… and it worked lool what the heck.
Hm. I have never had an issue with the hotkeys. I’m really not sure. What do you think @wendell ?
Try multiple keyboards? Try front hid and back?
Running into a similar issue.
I have 2 keyboards that share the same cable to the KVM, I swap them out occasionally:
- Keychron Q6 QMK
- Keychron Q3 HE QMK Wireless (In “Cable” mode)
- 1.4 Display Port KVM Switch - Triple Monitor - Two Computer
Both keyboards have the same key mappings for the Right Ctrl key in the QMK/VIA software.
The hotkey RCtrl-RCtrl-[1,2] hotkey only works with the Q6, not sure why it’s not working for the Q3 with an otherwise identical setup.
Could the difference be that your Q3 has nkey-rollover enabled and the Q6 disabled in the firmware?
