I am running an older HP Pavilion Power laptop with a Nvidia GTX 1050 GPU and a seventh gen Intel i7 on Ubuntu 22.04. I’m trying to get GPU passthrough working with Virt-Manager/VFIO. I followed this guide for the most part, and was successful in isolating and passing through the GPU, since it shows up in device manager as a Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. It won’t let me install the Nvidia driver and it says that no compatible hardware was found. I looked around, and heard the reason it won’t install is that the driver needs to see the battery for the mobile GPU driver to install. I followed another guide here to supposedly add an ACPI table for a virtual battery. I had to play around with the syntax since the guy in the guide used plain QEMU, not Virt-Manager.

It’s possible the ACPI table is messed up somehow, or something else. If you have any suggestions let me know.
EDIT: Also, as a note, when I plug into the laptop’s HDMI port I get no display output, whether in the VM or not. It is blacklisted in the kernel I think, so this isn’t surprising outside the VM, but I would think there should be some output while the VM is on.
