Torrent Client: Tixati

I have used many torrent clients more than i care to remember and tixati is the best one (in my opinion) works great on linux and windows. Also I am posting this because I think the people behind tixati need some help.

Example

Is it powerful ?- yes, would I support them ? - if they open source it I will.

More ppl should use it for sure.

What advantage does this provide over others like deluge, transmission, or qbittorrent?

I have used it before and I must say it’s the complete package. You can do anything in the torrent world with it.

The thing about it is, the guy who runs it says he wont open source it because his code is “special” and he wont accept lazy coding from some strangers. Which in my eyes doesn’t make sense but hey it’s his philosophy and “vision”.

So now I use qBittorrent.

So it is another Vuze client?

Haha yea maybe…

Never used Vuze so have no idea what you are talking about.

I feel like you know more than you are willing to share. As well as this too -

What makes you believe such things ?

It is a torrent client with far too many features to be useful.

Well tixati works out of the box, and in my opinion it best manages the network traffic. Especially when you set the download and upload limits, it is amazing at following the limits. Compared to anything else it just feels more polished.

And while it works out of the box opening the settings you will be amazed at the amount of customization you can have.

Tixati has been my go to client for years now. windows linux does not matter it just works. if you want to do fine tuning its there if you want something that is install and go it is there. and if you poke your head around you can find a lot of torrents that are not on the average aggregated sites with its built in channels.

I’m perfectly fine with this. Open source is not always the greatest thing but if he wrote and made it then its really up to him. I’ve had that feeling of writing something great that people liked, then leaving and other people turning it into a big turd. Kind of feels like your kid got slapped or something.

Same,

or the old utorrent 2.2.1

everything else seems overly complicated or silly

Does it work in a terminal without gui like rTorrent? If not, this strongly limits my use …

Have you tried Transmission?

Yep. Its not bad but lacked some options I wanted.

not complicated enough? :^)

has anyone looked into Tixati’s DHT/Channels thing?

for only legal stuff ofc

having to edit a config just to disable utp limiting is not what I would consider lacking in complication. Just personal preference I guess. I would prefer a simple check box.

the guy who runs it says he wont open source it because his code is “special” and he wont accept lazy coding from some strangers.

Nothing about Free Software requires you to accept commits from anybody else. The only change required to the code is adding a LICENSE file (and that’s not even required by all Free Software licenses.)

I’m skeptical that code written by someone who doesn’t understand common software development practices is quality code.
