Tor - helpful when self-hosting?

Lots of people around here self-host all kinds of stuff.

I’ve been looking into Tor recently, reading up, trying different things, just being curious as one typically would be - and I ran into this persons blog and thought it was a really nice writeup, and wanted to share it here:

The blog describes how you can use Tor to test access to your services from outside, while still at home (e.g. without tethering your laptop to your phone or and without renting a VPS).

And also, how to expose SSH as a hidden service, allowing you to access/admin your server(s), or access your internal network, without having to do port forwarding.

I’m a big fan of Tailscale for some of these things, Tailscale people run a bunch of relays that help connect folks together, but Tor has relays too.

Performance/latency… is perhaps an issue, … but it’s still perhaps useful.

Personally, I’ve never really reached out to Tor when I needed to do these things, it just didn’t occur to me. Has anyone here done that?
