Made a number of changes focused on current generation
4770K with a Z87 based motherboard offering superior performance and efficiency and ensuring the best PCIe performance. Additionally the motherboard offers conisderbly more functionality.
Also the pairing of the MB, GPU, and ODD all support a native UEFI protocal this will allow you with Windows 8 fully support Fast Boot which will offer very impressive ( and quick ) post and boot times.
The GPU is very cool and quiet and will offering great gaming performance at 1080P and even 2560x1440 resolutions.
Fan you do not need to consider the CPU cooler will provide great cooling to the CPU and the chassis will come included with enough fans to ensure great circulation.
The chassis also offers great flexibility in layout with aspects like open routing for cabling, front USB3.0 support mesh intake design for superior airflow and numerous other benefits.
I left the keyboard and mouse out as they are more of a personal choice relative to functionality and layout.
Good luck with the build! Hope this helps.

sooo you need a computer, monitor, OS, and KB and mouse for under 1500 correct?
I like this build. I would get a Fractal Design Define R4, as the white windowed version is nicely priced right now at around 90 bucks plus shipping

TBH, the GTX 770 and HD 7970 are pretty much equal in terms of the performance. I do believe the GTX 770 is slightly better in some games, but I think it wouldn't justify the 30 dollar difference.
