Hello fellow engineers and geeks,
I’m looking into learning some more about ASICs and digital design, out of curiosity. Frankly, it is largely a new field for me so I’d be grateful for some tips.
I already have some books and sources on the topic but I am interested in what you think are some good software tools to start learning VHDL/Verilog with and to test the descriptions in. What good affordable FPGAs there are or if it is better to simply start with simulation.
Ideally, I’d like the software tools to be available for Linux (openSUSE) so I don’t have to resort to using Windows in a VM.
Any help would be appreciated,
