So I am in the market for a 4k monitor soon, likely going to buying in 1-2 weeks. I was previously pretty set on getting the AMH A409U but that seems to have made a disappearance so I have been looking around for some other alternatives. I have found one sold by dream-seller on ebay called the Tiena QXM4000 and I was wondering if anyone knows about this monitor. And how it competes with other 4k monitors currently.
I haven't really been keeping up with the current ~40" 4k market, is this what I should be looking for? I am expecting to spend between $500-$850 CAD on a monitor but I've been seeing some crazy deals as well (most of which sold out).
I find it interesting that the Tiena monitor is listed as having a Samsung SuperVA panel, I don't recall any of the previous 40" monitors using anything like that. What do you think @Wendell?
Well it seems as though there isn't much information on this monitor. If the AMH A409U hasn't showed back up or a better alternative for Canada by the time I'm ready to buy I'll pick this up and let you guys know how it goes.
I pluged them into google translate and got some broken english out of it but it seems as though it is supposed to be positive.
A few of the pictures do seem to show a glossy screen though, not sure I would want something like that. I'm not a fan of glossy screens in the first place and it would stick out among my two other matte 1080p monitors. I wouldn't have a problem deglassing it if that was the case but if it just had a glossy finish on the display itself I might have to pass on this monitor.
I can help with the Changhong, I have one ! Great TV and tremendous 4k up scaling; BUT ABSOLUTELY UNUSABLE FOR GAMING OR REG USE LAG IS ON BODNAR 190MS. The mouse is way too slow (LAG).
I've been checking this out too since the AMH409 has gone MIA right about the time I decided to pull the trigger. I'm a bit concerned to see dreamsellers description has a line reading *Cannot support Flicker free and Freesync. Am I interpreting that somewhat odd line correctly to mean this is "not" flicker free like the 409?
I recently purchased an AMH A399U from Dream-Seller, however it needed to be returned due to a distracting film on the inside of the glass. I have been looking at the Tiena QXM4000 as a replacement because it has HDCP 2.2 and SPDIF out.
I found an in depth analysis for the UD4000, which I believe is the previous model.
You need to scroll down about 3/4 of the page, past the product information. A user by the name of "Frost Byte" has the information. While it may not be the same exact monitor, it may provide some insight. I'm not sure if it has the Samsung VA panel.
Looks like another confirmation on 5ms response rate which is promising. I'm still a bit concerned about the glossy screen though. The pictures posted in your link make it look really reflective and it doesn't seem like it would be a glass panel that could be removed. Glossy/matte screen finish is a really big factor for me and would actually make me hold off until I am sure I could get a matte screen on my monitor.
I'm definitely concerned about the display lag in the real world. I have one on order now, so I will post back with some impressions. However, I'm sure I wont get it for at least a couple of weeks.
Sweet, I'll probably wait to hear back from you then. I've also had my eyes on the Samsung 6400 series 4k TVs since they've been on sale near me but I don't think I want to deal with 26ms of response time.
Heh, I'd say the same if there was still a reasonably priced alternative. As it stands this seems to be the only real way to go for a sub $1000 4k 40" 60Hz monitor.
Actually, scratch that. I just remembered the Crossover 404k. Although that seems to be just about the same (4K, 40", 60Hz, No Freesync) except the TIENA comes in at about $200 CAD cheaper. Either way, I'll be waiting to see what luken10 has to say about it. As excited as I am to move to 4K40", I think I can muster up the patience to wait a bit longer.
Damn I was about to make a thread on this one. I was just looking for the amh a409u but I couldn't find it or the microboard b400/420/430 on ebay. I germany this monitor is actually pretty damn cheap (less than 500€) but the lack of freesync is a bit of a bummer
O40USUT - CAD $764, Haven't seen this one before. Has a usb port so I'm assuming freesync is possible?
UHD420 - CAD $999, Has a USB port, maybe freesync? Haven't heard anything
QXM4000 - CAD $739, Has a USB port, maybe freesync? Don't know much about this one yet
Those are the options I have from what I can find. The only one that compares to the QXM4000 is the O40UST which I haven't heard of before, I'll be doing some research on that.
The QXM4000 seems like one of the best options available to me from Canada.
I'm looking at the QMX4000 too, the O40UST looked interesting until I realized it didn't have DisplayPort which I need because I don't have HDMI 2.0. Freesync doesn't matter to me, so I might pull the trigger and do it.
