Wanting to know everyone’s thoughts on these 2 motherboards. Honestly price wise they aren’t terrible considering the market. Thinking maybe for a first server for someone? With the non existent data ports you’d have to use an m.2 adapter or sacrifice your x16 pcie lane but still possible. I’ve heard mixed things on minisforums bios updates didn’t know if anyone can confirm or deny that?
I am following along for this discussion. I was looking at getting two 2U dual itx case’s and create a 4 node cluster with them. Probably a project idea I will never do……. But I want to hear about the boards.
I’ve been running five BD795i’s for a year or so. Three in a Proxmox PVE cluster, one dedicated to gaming, and one workstation. I’m very pleased. Quiet, fast, affordable, and reliable. I think it’s an outstanding product. – Ask a competent LLM about the BIOS. I’ve heard similar chatter. I’m happy running 1.12. In general I don’t chase BIOS upgrades. I simply update when I initially purchase/build and then hold there. BIOS updates seem like a time sink to me, unless you’re in an enterprise situation.
If you pull the trigger, I have a tip for installing Linux. Power on with a Windows install USB connected. You need that to disable Secure Boot.
