My new bosses kid is trying to play Minecraft on the Thinkpad P72 and it keeps crashing the computer.
With the Quadro P600 it corrupts the image and bluescreen’s after about 15 minutes and with the UHD 620 it might take an hour.
It passes all of the Thinkpad’s hardware tests and has 48 GB of ram
Does anyone have any Idea’s?
I think that’s switchable gfx. Some of those had weird setups with shared framebuffer.
As a diagnostic step try going into the bios and see if there’s a toggle to turn off the switchable graphics
Try turning off the switchable graphics and see if you have troubles with just igpu or the dgpu.
Id guess the issue disappears if you disable the switchable gfx.
It may be bad ram, but not super likely.
If disabling switchable gfx causes the issue to disappear a bios update or getting the right driver combo is the fix.
Id start with the chipset/Intel gpu/nvidia gpu drivers from Lenovo. Probably outdated and dusty, but may be stable.
maybe you’ll luck out with the latest nvidia/intel combo.
Good luck with the voodoo rituals involved in summoning the correct driver combo.
Thank you, changing from Hybrid Graphics to Dedicated Graphics (an option it thankfully had) proved to be the solution
