Theoretical question about MI300

Yes, I know, AMD didn’t release this APU or info about it, but I was just wondering about something in general about it…

In many configurations, you can stick up to 8 MI2XX GPUs on a server.
With MI300, the GPU is actually an APU, but so far, AMD limited the number of CPU’s to 2.

So, my question: Do you think that with MI300 we will see up to 8-10 “CPU’s” on a single system?

No, I don’t think there will be 8-10 Epyc CPU’s on a single system in foreseable future. The cost/benefit is not there.

I think @hetz may be wondering how many Zen4 cores you’d have if you put 8 MI300’s in your system…

I was under the impression the socketed version of mi300 wouldn’t scale past 1 socket; The OAM version might be different but it may never hit the retail channels.
