Terrible frame rate in Far Cry 3?

Hey guys! I just built my own computer for the first time on Christmas Day.  I'd first like to thank everyone here for help with that; couldn't have done it without you guys! Anyways, as the title say, I can't play Far Cry 3 on max with anymore than like 20 frames on average.  It peaks at like 30 and usually valleys at like 15.  This is the ONLY game I play that has this awful of a frame rate.  Everything else I've tried runs on max at no less than 60 fps.  Oh, I'm playing everything at 1080p as well.

Here are the specs:

CPU: Intel i7-3930k
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i
Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth X79
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 at 1600 mHz
Storage: Seagate Barracuta 2TB Drive at 7200 rpm
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 680 4GB Classified Edition
Case: NZXT Switch 810 Matte Black
Power Supply: Corsair professional HX750 750 watt
and also a Lite-On DVD Burner, Rosewill networking card, blah, blah, blah...

I cannot figure out what the deal is.  I benchmarked with Total War: Shogun 2 and got an average of 79.8 frames per second, and also been able to run everything I've tried at no less than 60.  I know Far Cry 3 is graphically intensive, but something HAS to be going on here.  Thanks in advance everyone!

I've had a similar problem, Run BF3 on ultra. but Ultra on Far Cry 3 i get like 5 FPS. Not sure whats going on but i just dropped the quality back a little and back up to 60FPS

Did you try any other games? Try reinstalling the drivers.

I'm running Skyrim at no less than 60, same with Total War: Shogun 2.  And every other game I try.  It's specifically Far Cry.  I just reinstalled the drivers, I'll let you know.

On ultra settings you get to 60?

I believe nvidia released a specific driver patch for this game. A lot of people were getting issues on gtx 6xx series cards at launch but that all seems to be gone now.

Happens with my two 2Gb GTX 670's in SLi, every other game I play is easy mode for them but Far Cry 3 at ultra with 8x AA is just too much, I'd say that it's because of the amount of jungle / foliage onscreen and only that though. Everything at ultra with 4x AA gets about 40-45 FPS. Messed about with overclocking the cards abit for the first time and was able to get a more stable framerate. So lower AA and maybe abit of an OC should mean that you can handle it, if not better then more stable.

Just to update everyone I did a clean reinstall of the latest drivers from Nvidia and I am now getting around 60 fps on max settings with 8x AA.  I can usually get even more if I use 4x AA.  So I recommend everyone on a Nvidia card making sure they are on 310.70 drivers and doing a clean reinstall of them.  This also resolved a few graphical glitches I was having with some structures having strange geometry.
