Tech Documentary

So in my American History class, I need to watch a documentary about a time period or event in America's history that takes place post Civil War. Initially I thought this would be a no brainer. I decided I would watch Pirates of Silicon Valley. I filled out the forum to get the film approved, but my teacher rejected it. She said that the documentary wasn't like a tradionally documentary. She is okay with the topic of it, but the documentary needs to be more like one that you would see on the History Channel, before it became overflown with shows completely unrelated to history.

Does anyone know of a documentary that is more tradional and is about tech history?

Revolution OS is a documentary made a while back on Linux.  It's kind of old, so it might be a little outdated.  I've heard good things, but I've never seen it.   I'll watch it tonight!

I don't think many textbook documentaries have been made on technology, at least, in a format that would appease your teacher.

Revolution OS is a great documentary, although, as stated above it is a little out dated.  Its on netflix, but also on youtube as well.

Any with an interest in linux should see it!

I'll check it out, submit it, and see what she says. But if there are any more suggestions I would gladly take them.

How about the Rise of silicon valley? I know the Title says pirates of silicon valley but that is incorrectly labeled. It is not the 1999 movie and is in fact a documentary like those you see on the history channel.

Edit: This video contains what seems to be only interview excerpts for the Triumph of the Nerds documentary.

OccultAssassin,

You are fired, for not even reading the OP. lol

Haha NO!  I read the OP. Also I got the name wrong as well.  The actual documentary is, The Triumph of the Nerds: The Rise of Accidental Empires a Tech documentary from 1996. I thought the OP was talking about the movie pirates of silicon valley. Anyways if your teacher rejected this documentary then she/he is about as dumb as a bag of Rocks seeing as the documentary I posted aired on PBS who are known for their documentary style of programming. seen revolution os 2 times and freedom downtime 3 times. both are amazing.

I'll have to look into Freedom Downtime.  I didn't know the 2600 had a film dept.

Perhaps you can find something here. I find this much better than most of the crap on cable today. The History Chanel has become a joke most of the time. Can you believe that TLC actually once stood for The Learning Chanel? Hard to fathom considering what they put out as programming today.
