SystemD adds Age Verification & r/linux bans those talking about it

It’s not just “worded” that’s a specific requirement of the system spelled out in the law (yes I checked also the actual text of the proposal, not just the FAQ). This is a lot more than you get with US ones where nothing is defined and all is at the behest or random third parties. That’s still worth pointing out.

I doubt it, good biometrics is hilariously expensive and much easier to fool than a smartcard-based sytem. A lot of EU member nations have already a digital ID system that is basically a smartcard you read with a reader or with the phone’s NFC to authorize a data exchange from a government system to a whatever service. At least in my country it’s only used to access online government websites or services at the moment.
But it’s already literally the backend for something like this proposal. Probably part of our Dear Leaders plans. Trust the plan comrade.

Government always had your information, and also see above, with the digital ID system already deployed in many EU countries we effectively have the backend servers for this system already (strange coincidence isn’t it?) so if it’s just using that you aren’t even pulling random third party AI bullshit ID verification companies into the picture.

Identity theft with a smartcard based system like the digital ID cards and these calls to a backend server would be somewhat annoying. It’s not as simple as buying some leaked ID card and face pictures to fool said AI bullshit ID verification service, it’s more similar to credit card cloning (credit cards are also smartcard technology), it’s doable but you need more equipment and possibly scamming every single victim into using a compromised reader or app on their phone.
